There are several benefits to choosing a counsellor who is a registered social worker in British Columbia:

Some extended health benefits cover social workers while others cover counsellors; some cover both. Please be sure to check.
Social Workers are registered health professions so your session is tax-free.
Expertise in Social Work: Registered social workers have completed accredited social work programs and are trained to address a wide range of social and emotional issues. They bring a holistic approach to counselling, considering not only individual mental health but also social and environmental factors that may impact well-being.
Ethical Standards: Social workers adhere to a strict code of ethics and professional standards set by regulatory bodies such as the British Columbia College of Social Workers. This ensures that clients receive ethical and competent care.
Comprehensive Assessment: Social workers are skilled in conducting comprehensive assessments to understand the client's unique circumstances, strengths, and challenges. This enables them to develop personalized treatment plans tailored to the client's needs.
Advocacy and Support: Social workers are trained advocates who can help clients navigate complex systems and access resources and support services in the community. They empower clients to advocate for themselves and make informed decisions about their care.
Cultural Competence: Social workers are trained to be culturally competent and sensitive to the diverse needs and backgrounds of their clients. They strive to create a safe and inclusive environment where clients feel respected and understood.
Overall, choosing a registered social worker as a counsellor in British Columbia can provide clients with compassionate, evidence-based care that addresses their social, emotional, and practical needs.

Using approaches like IFS and mindfulness-based techniques, she supports healing from past pain, reducing triggers, and strengthening self-trust.

  4. Relationships & Couples Counselling Whether addressing communication struggles, conflict, or disconnection, Janaya works with couples to restore trust and mutual understanding. She also supports individuals navigating relationship transitions, boundaries, or patterns in dating and attachment.
